How should PTFE tape be applied to gas pipe threads?
PTFE tape should be wrapped evenly around the male pipe thread in the same direction that the fitting will be tightened. Keep the tape flat and under consistent tension so that it conforms closely to the threads.
Avoid excessive tape buildup and keep loose tape fragments from entering the piping system. The number of wraps depends on the tape specification, thread size, and fitting design.
Gas installations should always be completed and leak-tested in accordance with applicable codes, product instructions, and local regulations.
