Sunfilm® Expanded PTFE Wrapping Tape

Engineered for Aerospace, Defense and High-Frequency Communication Systems Sunfilm® Expanded PTFE Wrapping Tape is manufactured from 100% expanded polytetrafluoroethylene using a controlled microporous structure. With an ultra-low dielectric constant, extremely low signal loss, lightweight construction, excellent flexibility, and outstanding temperature resistance, it is engineered for aerospace, defense, satellite communications, radar systems, and other mission-critical high-frequency cable applications. Compared with conventional cable insulation and wrapping materials, Sunfilm® ePTFE wrapping tape helps reduce transmission loss and cable weight while maintaining stable electrical performance across wide temperature ranges.

Sunfilm® Expanded PTFE Wrapping Tape Has One Clear Purpose:

Transmit High-Frequency Signals Farther and More Reliably—While Reducing Cable Weight.

Excellent Flexibility

The expanded microporous structure provides excellent softness and conformability for wrapping conductors and complex cable structures.

Ultra-Low Dielectric Constant

With a dielectric constant of approximately 1.3–1.4, the material helps reduce signal delay and transmission loss.

Extremely Low Dielectric Loss

A dielectric dissipation factor of ≤0.0005 at 1 MHz supports stable high-frequency transmission and signal integrity.

Lightweight Microporous Structure

With a density of only 0.50–0.90 g/cm³, the tape helps reduce overall cable weight.

Wide Temperature Resistance

Maintains flexibility and stable electrical performance from −190°C to +260°C.

Excellent Environmental Resistance

Provides strong resistance to moisture, chemicals, fuels, oils, solvents, and corrosive media.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Which industries commonly use Pipe Thread Sealant?
Pipe Thread Sealant is widely used in plumbing, HVAC, gas distribution, hydraulic systems, petrochemical plants, water treatment facilities, and industrial manufacturing.
    • How much pressure can Pipe Thread Sealant withstand?
Depending on the formulation and application, high-performance thread sealants can withstand pressures up to 69 MPa (10,000 psi).
    • What materials can Pipe Thread Sealant be used on?
It is suitable for most metal threaded fittings, including steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, and aluminum.
    • Can Pipe Thread Sealant replace PTFE Tape?
Yes. In many industrial applications, Pipe Thread Sealant can replace PTFE Tape and provide a more reliable and durable seal.
    • What is the difference between Pipe Thread Sealant and PTFE Tape?
PTFE Tape mainly fills thread gaps mechanically, while Pipe Thread Sealant forms a chemical seal after curing, providing higher pressure resistance, better vibration resistance, and long-term sealing performance.
