What is yellow PTFE tape used for?
Yellow PTFE tape is commonly associated with gas piping applications and is used to seal compatible threaded pipe connections in natural gas, LPG, and other approved gas systems.
Compared with lightweight general-purpose plumbing tape, gas-grade PTFE tape may be manufactured to specific thickness, density, and performance requirements for more demanding threaded connections.
Color alone, however, does not determine whether a PTFE tape is suitable for gas service. Always verify the product specifications and applicable gas approvals before installation.
